The Art Of Advertising: Phantom Manor Wall

Now as getting closer to the reopening of Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris after its over 1 year and 6 month refurbishment it might be a good time to take a look back at some impressive pieces of artwork wich came along with the downtime of the attraction.

The Manor itself was wrap up with scaffold showing a picture of the Manor blending perfectly with the surrounding and the sky.

But what draws my interests was all the artwork on the wall covering the construction area. Artist have made a whole bunch of adverts with references to Thunder Mesa, the fictional Town in Disneyland Paris’ Frontierland, and to its residents. And not only that. There are references to the other Disney parks too. The advert of the Western River Line lists destinations at the other parks Frontierlands or equivalents.

Also the advert of J. Nutterville should ring a bell for those who are visiting the park more than once. He is the undertaker of Thunder Mesa and there are quite a few references around.

If you don’t know who Milo ‘ One Eye’ Joe is, just go to Frontierland Depot, the rail road station and take your time to look over all the paper work on the desk there.

Madam Leota of cause should be very familiar to you if you ever been into the Manor. She es the medium in the glass bowl calling the spirits.

So all this artwork let you, the guest, diving deeper in this well designed story of Thunder Mesa and its Phantom Manor.
